EN ISO 20471 - PROTECTION VIA HIGH VISIBILITY


EN20471 High Visibility protective clothing is designed to keep you visible in day and night. From 1st. Oct. 2013, the EN ISO 20471:2013 was introduced. This new harmonized standard has replaced the former standard EN 471:2003+A1:2007.


Practico provides various styles for those who expose themselves on road traffic, construction sites, civil service or outdoor hazardous environment. We have a list of fluorescent yellow, orange and red color in cotton, T/C, beaver, CVC, blended poly-cotton, polyester with or without PU for your selection. Reflective tape in 3M, Sto-nor Loxy or other quality are available in stock.


Three classes of garment are defined based on three different minimum areas of reflective, fluorescent and/or combined performance materials. Each of these classes will provide a different level of conspicuity. Class 3 garment provides the highest degree of conspicuity against most backgrounds found in urban and rural situations in daylight and in night time. Users should select the most suitable protective workwear according to the risk of working environment and types of job.


Below are the specific requirement of fluorescent material and reflective tape applied on different classifications.

Tips for this norm:

  • The fluorescent material must encircle the torso, sleeves and legs with at least 5cm. Gaps in fluorescent material made by reflective bands are allowed.

  • At the front and back, the reflective material shall have more of less the same percentage.

  • The width of the reflective bands must be at least 50mm other it will only be considered as decorative.

  • A maximum gap of 50mm is allowed in the band of reflective;100mm around the torso and 50mm around the sleeves and legs.
